Our eyes have already been spoilt with oodles of Jubilee finery this weekend - hello Queen Liz in sparkles! Wills and Hottie Harry in uniform! Kate Middleton in McQueen, McQueen and more McQueen! - to name but a few. Then the snaps from the CFDA Fashion Awards landed and we're perilously close to a fab frock overload.
Host-with-the-most Seth Meyers parodies Marc Jacobs
But that's not gonna stop us! You'll understand when we reveal that the swanky event, which took place in New York last night, saw an Olsen double whammy, a droolsome Kate Bosworth sighting, one of the Fanning sisters working Proenza Schouler AND host Seth Meyers parodying Marc Jacobs at the Met Ball. So you see, we couldn't possibly let this one slide - Jubilee hangover or no.
The Olsen twins pick up their award
In fact, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were the stars of the night. During the CFDAs ceremony (that’s the Council of Fashion Designers of America, dontcha know), the twinsome scooped the Womenswear Designer of the Year gong. Bravo! They beat off stiff competition from Marc Jacobs as well as Proenza Schouler to pick up the accolade for their label The Row, which launched in 2007. Taking to the stage in their own designs, they adorably thanked one another in their acceptance speech and Ashley even gave MK a sisterly pat on the cheek. All together now: awwww.
Lily Collins works a Marchesa number
So who else was crowned CFDA winner? Well, recipients of the Swarovski Awards for Emerging Talent were our very own Brit shoe maestro Tabitha Simmons for accessories, Phillip Lim for menswear and Joseph Altuzarra for womenswear. Reed Krakoff was named the Accessories Designer of the Year while street style photographers Scott Schuman and Garance Doré scooped the Media Award.
So perk up those peepers, pull on your Fashion Jury fascinators and prepare to meet the best dressed from the CFDAs courtesy of our mammoth gallery above...
