Remember the controversy when novelist Lauren Weisberger – former personal assistant to Vogue’s Anna Wintour – wrote the brilliant and insightful The Devil Wears Prada - following the life of budding journalist Andy Sachs and her first job to tyrannical fashion editor, Miranda Priestly - back in 2003?
And, remember how amazing the film was, (hello, scene-stealing Emily Blunt) with Meryl Streep’s silver barnet and dismissive ‘that’s all’ line and Anne Hathaway’s blunt fringe? Well, it’s time to get excited again because Lauren is finally penning the sequel. Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns is due for release next April and will follow Anne Hathaway’s character, Andy, eight years on. Where is she now? Well, she’s not only the editor of a bridal magazine and BFF’s with Emily Blunt’s character, Emily, but she’s getting married herself and the book charts her wedding plans from start to finish. We were still rooting for Nate (played by Adrian Grenier), even after the book concluded with them going their separate ways so we can’t wait to see who Andy’s ended up with.
As if all that wasn’t enough, a snippet of the book has been released and suggests that we WILL see more of Miranda Priestly in the sequel:
‘Andrea remains haunted by her impeccably heeled former boss — and the magazine world being as small as it is, it’s only a matter of time before she hears the dreaded syllables “Ahn-dre-ah!” again.’
Bring on the film sequel, people, and get Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt signed on immediately. In the meantime, let's relive the magic...
